22 LR bolt action

How much difference is there between the 513 and the 455?
i know the 513 doesnt have an adjustable trigger, but most rifles dont (until recently for the higher end models).
Is it worth the 100 dollars or so savings to get the 513, as it also comes with iron sights, or just go for the 455?

The 513 Basic is a great "first" .22 LR... it is well made and accurate... but you are giving up more than just the trigger when compared to the 455... the Basic comes with an uncheckered "BEECH" stock... where the 455 comes with a nicely checkered, quality "WALNUT" stock... if you an afford the difference then buy the 455, if that is too much upfront cost, then the Basic is a good choice.

I'm sold on the 455, just not sure which model now.
The LUX comes with iron sights, but a different handgrip/cheek rest, while the american doesnt come with iron sights and slightly different stock, is that the only difference?
same 11mm dovetail for scope mount?

I believe those are the only differences. The hogsback comb on the lux allows better (lower) alignment with the open sights, American is better (higher) for scope use.

If you're thinking about the 455 Lux, stop and get a 452 lux/trainer/standard instead. I love the tangent sights and longer barrel (sight radius).

I would also suggest looking for a 452 instead of the 455 - whatever flavour you go for. The machining on the 455s seem a bit... rougher. I noticed a couple small burrs on the 455s I was looking at when I was deciding between a 455 and a 452. 455s were just coming out then so it could be a new production thing... but according to the guys I've talked to, the burrs are still there in the new rifles.

If you have a chance, when you pull the bolt out of a new 455, check to see if there is a burr on the sear just inside the opening. That's the one that caught my attention the most and what made me decide to go with the 452.

I would go with savage mark 2 bolt for precision, or ruger 1022 for semiauto JUST because all aftermarket mags are for it.

I have a mossberg 702 and it's fine... savage semiauto would be fine too, and I heard marlin is fine too....

I just love the savage mark 2 wood model with accutrigger. Put a nice scope on it and it makes you feel like an elite .22 sniper :D
