.22 lr hypervelocity options...?

There is the 1600 fps CCI round know as the segmented HP. It breaks apart in 3 pieces on impact, and is much louder than high velocity products. FS

Which gun are you running them in? Some hypers are too long to cycle properly.

My fave is the CCI Velocitor. I'm not sure it is what you'd call hypervelocity, but 40gr HP at 1435fps beats 32gr HP at 1640fps any day of the week for me!

Thanks guys.

I'm using a Savage MARK II BTVS for beaver annihilation. Got 4 this past weekend. The CCI stingers work very well...1 shot in the skull at 90 (+/-) yards and they are history. I'm just curious if there are other's that are liked by members. I'm always looking to improve...if possible.

Thanks!

Like all .22's you have to try a box of as many brands as you can to find the brand(s) that your rifle shoots best.
Remington makes Yellow Jackets. These will go right through a steel pot helmet when other types will only penetrate one side. One of the guys who frequented the shop I worked in long ago tested Stingers, Yellow Jackets and Expediters on one.

Another vote for the Velocitors.. brute force-wise, it beats everything I know of. Has the highest payload at 100yards, and has a predictable trajectory etc.. The only thing is that it seemed to be a bit loose on the groupings compared to other ammo with my 10/22, but I have to re-visit those groups with a scope to confirm that. I must say that each barrel likes different sets of ammo so that ammo might be awesome with your barrel too.

Thanks for the input guys, I looked up the CCI Velocitor and was thoroughly impressed that it has more energy than the Stingers past 25 yards. 20 ftlbs more at 100 yards is pretty nice considering it's not a hyper velocity round. And the trajectory is basically the same... only an increase of 0.2 of an inch drop than the Stingers at 100 yards. Impressive! I'm going to get a box or two and see how my Savage likes them.

Cheers!

The bullets really make the Velocitors. Theyre a harder lead and I haven't had one fragmentate without hitting a rock, and even then theres usually several big pieces. In sand they mushroom nicely. That reminds me, I have a few that I recovered from soft sand that I need to weigh.

There was a guy on here recently who said the Remington yellow jackets were super accurate in his mark II fvsr, so hoping mine would like them too I picked up a brick....

EVEN THOUGH, none of the rifles I tried them in in the past have liked them, but they were all semi autos so I guess we will see.

Edit, 33 grains at 1500 FPS

Another Velocitor fan here my 597 loves em. One point about the Speyr hollow point design for these fine rounds, they rarely fragment due to mushrooming. Point 2 I hardly ever see them in the stores here in the GTA, so if you see them, grab them before I get there. Either that or mail order.
