I am looking to spend no more than $750 preferably $500 on a accurate 22 LR bolt action but I have some pretty specific things on my wish list. I would really appreciate any feedback you can offer.

1. Stainless Steel Barrel and non rust action. (I have no problems shooting in the rain. But my steel guns do.) :(
2. Bolt action with magazine. (10 Shot would be nice)
3. As accurate as I can get for the money. (I would like a gun where shooting it will test me, not the gun.)
4. Cheaper the better. I love the Anshutz, but I will never spend enough time shooting or shoot well enough to justify 2k for a bloody .22.
5. I could care less about the looks or brand name. I care about accuracy, durability, and overall quality.
6. New or used in good condition is fine by me.

My change jar is getting full. I was going to buy a rem 870 Marine mag, but I think I'll get more use out of a 22 that I can fire at a few ranges here in town. I might even join the scarborough gun club if I can find the right gun at the right price. Apparently my 10/22 is a no no at their club cause they don't like repeaters. (Gun racists!):runaway:

Also given the gun I mentionned, I would also appreciate opinions on peep sights vs. scopes.

I think you should buy the Marine Magnum:p
Have you thought about getting a 17 hmr.Yes they are more exspensive than the 22lr but there is no comparison when it comes to accuracy. If your hearts set on the 22lr then i agree with johan22.

Damn I'm sooo stupid. I can't believe I missed that. It looks just like what I am in the market for. Thanks so much.

But are they accurate for the money??? It is at the very top of my price range and doesn't include sights or scope. Can you even put peeps on it????

Stainless steel really limits your choices. I think Ruger is about the only one that makes a stainless 22 in your price range. The CZ's are great but there's no stainless one. CZ does make a plated vers.

One week ago I took two blued shotguns and one stainless 10/22 out in a light rain. By the time I had dinner and drove back hom (6 hours) the blued steel were all badly rusted and stainless was perfect. I just feel that if I'm going to invest in any gun from now on, I have to make more durable choices. I'm rough on my gear and don't always have time to clean and oil them right away.

FOr this reason, I think I'll sacrifice a little price or accuracy for a little durability. Is the 77/22 a reasonable shot?

If not I am still open to the idea of using my k10/22 stainless as my outdoor plinker and getting a really nice used Anchutz or similar for indoor range. If the accuracy is really that much better. I'll likely never go beyond club matches (have yet to join a club) or inter club matches, so all megabuck options are off the table. They all shoot better than I do or likely could do anyways.

The CZ's are probably the most accurate out of the box in your price range ...but do not come in stainless. Either the American or Varmint have the best potential for repeat shot accuracy with free floated barrels. Check the test target before you buy and make sure you get one with a decent group. I would be looking for one that came from thr factory shooting a 50M group that did not exceed 1/2" @ 50M. You will probably be able to better that by tring a variety of ammo until you find the "sweet" one. Check the chatter on www.rimfirecentral.com where 30,000 members are contributing.
You will probably need to spend another $50.00 to take some creep out of the trigger.
I have and American .22LR that will take 80% of the gophers I point it at @ 100 yards.

I would go with the CZ based on the price you pay for what you get. That and they are damn fine looking rifles. I bought the lux myself.

469.95 at wholesale in lethbridge. It's far more accurate than I can shoot. I'm a newbie yes, but that's not to say that this isn't an accurate rifle.
