I think I got most 22LR that CT sold, For the test to see which ammo works best in my 22LR kit. Only ammo I did not get was the AE 40grn Lead. Since I tried them before and did not work well, But will try the copper plated ammo though.

I should scoot over to Walmart to see about Dynapoints.

So many brands of Winchester 22LR.

T22 Target 40 grn (lead) , 22LR 37 grn HP( copper ) Xpert 22 HP.

I also figured 200rds each is a good number for the test. I got 30rd mags, I'll be doing a quick cleaning through each brand.

Im gonna work on which feeds better then accuracy for now, to see which brand will fire more 30rd mags.

Once I find a round that works the best, I could buy more or Bulk...

You should get a pack of CB longs for fun as well. I used them in my 10/22; I hold the bolt closed and manually cycle it. I haven't tried it in the 11.5" barrel, but with my 18" hear protection wasn't required. :D

Nine, I sold my 1022 last week, Couldn't find the right ammo for it, It was a newer model. For Semi autos all I got now is my Ruger 2245 that loves the AE 40grn lead ammo, Marlin 70HC with only 7 rd mags and my Ceiner kit for my AR15. I'll be doing this test with a 7.5" A1 upper. With 2X 30rd ceiner mags till my Black Dog Mags come in..

I got a Toz 78 and a TC 22LR Contender barrel is these rounds don't like those guns. Plus a Henry 22LR Big Loop Carbine, That can fire LR, L and S. My 2245 eats everything, Don't know why my 1022 was picky, I even used new, old and 10rd mags.

Yeah well I don't get out much. Gonna be twice this month which is a record for me...

Well I picked 200 because we all know 22LR is hit or miss, there are some bad batches in them..

Yup, I picked the 7.5" because less the bullet has to bounce around the barrel, Its only 1-9 twist. Also because well when I tested it out with the AE 40 grn it has a nice poof that comes out of the muzzle..

I tired AE Copper Plated, Thunder Bolts, CCI Blazers, CCI Stinnger, Fed Ammo, Winchester Xpert and so far nothing really works.

I think my hammer spring on my AR lower is too heavy and slowing down the bolt when it blows back. I'll work on that for my 22LR lower I'm building. Low Mass Hammer, Lighter Springs ETC I also stretched the recoil spring on the bolt itself to maybe make it better. Being sometimes I had to pull back the bolt and let it go for it to actually lock.

I did have some of the Winchester ammo blow up, Ripped the RIM right off the case, NO damage to my gun.

Still a test in progress. I'll keep you posted. Might goto the indoor range tomorrow and test it out more with it being cleaned, Spring stretched and I might throw on my lower with the JEWEL trigger breaking 2# to see before I order parts that its my hammer slowing the bolt down.

AE 40 Grn is deadly accurate in my 2245 though. Up to 500rds w/o cleaning and not one FTE or FTF and today I was hitting the 18" Steel Gong Un supported at 100m, Supported I was able to hit it 90%. I did not have to aim higher or anything, Placed the front sight in the center of the gong and fired and waiting for the ting.
 
I'm re starting the test.

On further inspection, I noticed on chamber adapter, Where the extractor slot is cut out, There were burrs on it and when I looked closely that the burrs were actually higher then the rest of the bolt and not into the chamber at all, So when I put a empty case into the chamber and tested it with the bolt, the extractor would not full grab the rim of the case.

I took a file and started to deburr it and now the extractor will actually lock onto the rim of the case and eject it way better then before.
 
I just got tested out a (new to me) Atchisson MkII kit yesterday in my AR15.

First ammo I tried was the Winchester hollow point in the very bottom right of Robert's picture. What a miserable experience, the brass must be soft on this brand, because the hammer was slamming through the rim and causing the burning powder to escape out into the chamber. Big mess.

The second ammo I tried was the flat nose Americal Eagle (bottom, 2nd from right). These rounds were firing reliably, and the brass casing was completely intact after the cartridge was struck, but there just wasn't enough power to allow the case to fully exit the chamber, so every round would end up stove piping.

The last kind of ammo I had was the Remington Thunderbolt. Dirty messy cheap all lead ammo. Worked perfectly. Every round fired, no FTFs, no stovepipes, worked like a charm! Brass was ejecting at 2 O'Clock, being thrown about 6 feet. Couldn't be happier at the function. Unfortunately, it started to hail, so a precission test couldn't be performed.

If you're having trouble with your conversion kit, definitely try out some different ammo.
 
I don't have a convertion kit, but I have the tactical solutions upper. Lots of people hvae been complaining about bulk ammo and all that jazz. So far, hotter ammo=no problmes. Remington yellowjackets/vipers and cci velocitors work awesome with no issues. Maybe hotter ammo is the key for conversions as well.
