.22 mag for small game

Is .22 WMR too much for rabbits etc? Never tried it.

I have used a .22WMR on Snowshoe hare before. Gotta kep your lead on the neck or head or risk meat damage. Lots of fun though hunting small game with a bang instead of a pop.

Like Eagle said, shoot for the head. I use one for Ruffed grouse, and have the power to take a coyote at close range. It is my favorite walking rifle.

I've shot many rabbits with my .22mag and have found it to be an excellent gun for them. I like the extra range that it seems to have over my .22LR.

Small edible game is why they make full metal jacket WMR bullets. Hollowpoints are not kind to the meat of small critters or birds.

.22 mag is great for small game. Head shots only. I use hollow point and do head shots. A .22 mag and hollow point is nice to have for coyotes.

I prefer a 22 LR for rabbit, the small bush type that is but a 22 WMR would be good too
