ok so i ordered a new barrel.

http://www.rimfiresports.com/mercha...ode=RSC&Product_Code=VC10NC&Category_Code=R1A

i will admit i know nothing of the .22 ammo types and chambers

can i use the bulk federal packs from canuck tire thru it? or should i stick with match ammo? and whats this talk i got a sniff about stainless and winter not a good mix?

also got a few other goodies for it so it should now perform the way i would like it to. just need to find a nice stock for it now.

i guess i will need to post pics.:D

The ad refers to the level of accuracy which can be obtained using match ammunition; it does not warn against the use of non-match cartridges.
Don't worry about stainless, the cold, and .22rf.
As far as that goes, many blued .22 barrels are made from leaded screw machine steel (LaLed, 12L14, etc.) which is rather brittle by design, to enhance machining characteristics.

We love stainless; many of our firearms are indeed stainless. And we shoot them until they are warm. One of our ranges is outdoors so we shoot in snowmobile suits all winter long. NO problems. I don't think I would be too concerned unless perhaps you are shooting right to the edge of pressure tolerances or something.

The barrel will have a bentz or other style match chamber. Basically the chamber demensions will be a little tighter to promote better accuracy.

In real world terms the only thing it limits you to in terms of ammo is tandard length 22lr. You shouldn't use stingers in these barrels. Other than that use the cheap ammo to your hearts content.

No, the worst will be if the barrel is seized on the US side, and the shipper is prosecuted for exporting a controlled item without a US export permit, and your name gets flagged as being a participant in a violation of US arms control law.
Of course, if you obtain a Cdn. import permit, and send it with your order so that the shipper can obtain the necessary export permit, then there is no risk that the man will snag it.

^^ I believe there is barrel-mounted rail exist for Ruger 10/22, I think its a must if you are building tack driver. I do not have 10/22 but I had some other semi's and they all suffer from barrel-receiver atachment being not 100% solid.
