I remember reading a thread about this a couple months ago but I cant seem to find it again..

So I'm in the market for a .22 revolver (preferably double action) and was wondering if anyone could suggest one? I've noticed a lot of vendors have been selling the Charter Arms .22. Does anybody have any experiences with them? What about Taurus .22s?

Thanks!

I have a S&W Model 63. A little hard to find and a little pricey but a very consistent shooter with no problems. (As it has been historically). More recent vintages have a 8 rnd cylinder instead of 6.

Also the redesigned (2011) Ruger SP101 (first introduced in about 2003) in .22LR has been highly anticipated. I haven't seen a 2011 version yet in the local shops in Vancouver though. It has had some mixed reviews. So I would check to see if they've worked out the kinks first.

Forget all the rest and buy either the S&W 617 or the S&W 17 You will never regret it and if down the road you want to sell it you will be surprised how quick they sell.

Get a secondhand S&W Model 17. They sell for much less than a new one, never wear out, and will at least hold, if not appreciate in value.

Taurus and Charter Arms are not quality guns.

I'm going to double up on the poster above...I bought a Smith and Wesson 617 earlier this year and absolutely love it. No problems and shoots any ammo I throw at it with good accuracy. Definately a keeper. Took me about 5 months to find it and now I know why....hard to let go. Good luck with whatever you choose.
