hello all, i just recently got a 10/22 and im looking to put a cheap scope on it.
i only have about $60-70 to spend on the scope so i have my sights set on
Bushnell Rimfire 4-32.

on the Bushnell website it says that this scope has a paralax setting @ 50 yrds. what does this mean exactly? can i still sight it in at 100 yrds or am i limited to 50 yrds?

also, what are your opinions of this scope, keep in mind i cant afford any better. is it good for the price?

Parallax is a setting which adjusts the focus of the image exactly on the cross hairs or reticle of the scope.
The front lens of the scope is adjusted back and forth to do this job. If the parallax is set for 100 yds then at 50 yds you can do the following:
Set the scope up in bags so that it is immovable and set the cross hairs on a 50 yard target. Now remember the parallax is set for 100 yds. When you look through the scope and slightly move your head/eye from side to side you will see the cross hairs wander slightly over the target. The result of this is that depending how you hold your head the scope will shoot to slightly different places.
If the parallax is set to 50 yds and you want to shoot at 100 yds, the image will be slightly blurred but the accuracy will still be there.
Remember with a 22 rimfire scope, if you cant see it you cant hit it.
Many of the higher power scopes that are variable such as the Tasco 6X-24X are relatively cheap and can be had for around $100 from LeBaron sports. These scopes have a front bell housing that is calibrated for different distances for parallax adjustment.

For about 10$ more, you can get this scope http://www.bushnell.com/products/riflescopes/specs/72-0039.cfm at many Canadian vendors. Comes with rings, if I remember correctly. Its parallax can be adjusted from 7yards to infinity.

SkS: I have that 3-9X scope on my 22. It's great! I havent seen a scope (in that price range) that I've liked better.
The crosshairs are very fine, the Paralax adj is very slick, and the fingertip adjustment works well and comes in quite handy when shooting at different ranges. (example when I've zeroed it in at 50yds and want to shoot at 100. I can just give the elevation knob a twist (about 30 clicks I've found) and you're bang on target.

I have 2 on my .22lr rifles, one on my bolt and one one my semi-auto (both savages). Great scopes, for the price.

Go for the bushnell rimfire scope. You won't be sorry.
