22 Semi wanted. What to buy??

Hey everyone. I am relatively new to CGN and new to the firearm world. I have a small hobby farm and am looking for a good, dependable, and accurate 22semi and I don't know what to buy. I was originally looking/thinking of a Ruger 10/22, and now I am considering a Marlin 60 (probably the SS) or a Marlin 795 SS. Also, I would like to purchase a 22 bolt action repeater.
Questions,
1. Which is better Ruger 10/22 or Marlin 60?
2. Which is the better Marlin tube fed or magazine fed?
3. What bolt action will give me best bang for the buck?

Asking a question like this will get you every opinion in the rainbow.

My opinion is to get a 10/22 because they are reliable right out of the box and doesn't "need" any upgrade. but later on if you decide to buy some upgrades, you have alot more variety to choose from.

Marlin 60 is $100 cheaper and will shoot much better than the Ruger 10/22. There are very few aftermarket parts for the Marlin, whereas the Ruger had a metric ton of options you can browse through. The reason for this is simple: the Marlin doesn't -need- upgrades, whereas to get decent groups out of the Ruger you generally have to buy a new trigger group and barrel, which will set you back an additional $200 or so. The Ruger is overpriced beyond reason for what it is, though if you want to modify and tweak and build it up to something, it is a good platform... just with an unreasonable price tag.

I love the tube mags, mainly because you can't accidentally drop a tube magazine in a field and never find the damn thing. I also figured out how to build tube magazine quick-loaders out of copper tubing, which allowed me to have 30 full reloads (420 rounds,) sitting in my pocket for about $60. You'd have to spend several hundred dollars to do be packing the same count with box mags.

I am not familiar enough with the various bolt-actions to give a thorough view, but from what I gather the bone-simple Savage Mk.II is very well priced for what it can do.

I have #1 and #3 and I love them. More #3 cause it is old and bolt action to boot and darn close maybe even better at accuracy.
 
I have both a 10/22 and Marlin 795. Both are great right out of the box. Can't go wrong with either.
 
I just bought a 10/22 takedown and love it! It's as accurate as any 10/22 and the bag is great and its so practical...

At first I wasn't sure if I was gonna rly use the takedown feater but... I like it and won't go back.

Spend the extra 100$ and you won't regret it
 
i have a savage 64 nice shooter semi auto, put a tasco 3-9x32 scope and 5 round group 50 yards 1/4 can't complain. try out different brands and see what you like best.
 
I have a 10/22 (among several .22 semi-autos), and it's been stone reliable. I, too, go along with the Savage MkII for a boltie - mine's accurate enough to make single-ragged-hole groups at 50 yds. (off the bench) all day long, using bulk Winchester ammo. Hard to beat that for the money!
 
1 Is a preference...Some folks really love their 10/22's. I far prefer the Marlins
2 Again, it's a preference. There are pluses to either. Can't loose a tube, can load 'em quick. Box magazines can be loaded but out of the gun.
3 For bang for buck, the MkII is very tough to beat.
 
I have a ruger 10/22 and a Mossberg plinkster. I would never of thought...the mossy is more accurate LOL and I never get a jam of FTF, but I have with the ruger. I am really impressed with the over all performance of the Mossberg.

had a 10/.22, and hated it. CZ 511 would be my choice in a semi right now.
as for bolt action, a CZ 453 with a single set trigger is the most lovely rifle to shoot that I own. I did have to take the bolt out of it and polish it though, and do a touch of sanding to the stock to make the barrel a true free float, but that gun is SOOOOOO worth it. I'm going to jewel the bolt next....

I apologize for the vague question, but regardless, I am happy and thankful for all replies. I have found so many online stores to buy a 10/22 but the standard sporter, deluxe and target all seem to be on backorder everywhere. I suppose that takes the guess work out of my decision making process.
But for you Marlin owners, specifically the synthetic stock owners, do you find them slippery? I was reading somewhere that they have a tendency to be slippery, didn't think there would be much difference between finishes. Any truth to this?

Really? I was told to stay away from the Mossberg semi. You say you have never had a jam, what ammo do you use?
