I had a ruger single six, and shot hundreds of rnds through it. Never any problems. I dont see a short causing any problems, being a lot less powerfull rnd, also close range <25yds it was suprisingly accurate.
will ot damage your gun but try to limit your use of them to the end of your shooting session if your going to shoot LR.
the short rounds since the brass is shorter will lead up your cylinder, the lead contacts the cylinder farther back then a long rifle round, so if you shoot your shorts and then try to chamber a long rifle it may besyicky to get them in the cylinder due to fouling and leading.
A steady and heavy diet of shorts can damage a gun. My father had an old Savage Pump that developed a ring at the point where a short case ended. When a LR was fired the case would bell at that point and stick so badly it meant a knife of similar tool was neede to remove the casing.
