I don't think it will be a problem to shoot 100 rounds of CB shorts through my new Cooey 750 bolt in .22 but thought I'd ask to be sure. I plan on cleaning the chamber after I am done so that there isn't any fouling left in the upper part where the long rifle brass will sit. Should I be worried about eroding the chamber?

I don't think it's a problem for most bolt rifles, however, I probably wouldn't do it if the rifle isn't stamped for it.

However, most of the old Cooey's I've seen have been marked .22 S/L/LR.

no issues for safety. If you shoot a huge amount of shorts you may want to brush out the chamber to get rid of the crud in the forward chamber end before going back to longs/long rifles . This would be mainly to help chambering in blowback autoloaders with a bolt you probably would'nt notice

We had what we called a German .22 growing up. The entire breechblock, firing pin and bolt assembly hinged directly upward to expose the chamber for loading. It was marked .22 lr but we shot shorts occasionally.
After firing a short I hinged up the action to load another. You could see directly through the barrel before loading the next round. Darkness... short didn't exit the barrel.
I've tried to stay with what the barrel was marked for after that.
But each to their own, good luck

Ugh, so what if you used Long Rifle CBs?

Yea, you'll be fine with shorts. I use them in my Cooey 64b, turns it into a quiet single shot.
