22 sighting in

Normally, the .22 is centered at 50 yards. I find that the gun is much more capable for long shots, so I center at 100 yards. I do shoot out to over 200 so the extra distance allows easier distance estimation

I sight in for 50 yds. and I use the gun for gophers, I find that if i sight in for 100yds. I have to aim well under closer targets and I'm just not programmed to do that.

I find a little prep and info goes a long way to help you prevent misses. The first thing you need to do is test different types of ammo to see what your rifle prefers accuracy wise, and then set up your rifle based on that ammo's specifications. (velocity, BC, projectile weight, etc.)

The .22LR is a very slow round with a horrible BC. It needs to be 'lobbed' even to get it to 100 yds. The good news is, for the most part anyway, most hunting done with a .22 is (or should be) less than 100 yds. What I find works best for me, is a 25/60 yd zero. That way, from 15 yds all the way out to 70 yds, my POI stays within half an inch of my POA. (which means no hold over or under is required)

The following info is based on the CCI Blazer being used in my 10/22 (my scope sits 2" above the bore)

Good luck and have fun! :)

I'm one of the 100 crowd...mildot or Map8(Hawke). On my favourite (Cooey 64) I have the big Kwik Site rings to see my "open" sights...I have to be honest, over irons and, less than 50, it's mine!

Just had my Remington 597 out for a "preliminary sight in" and, it was slushy awful so 25 seemed just fine( nice n' high)

Usualy 100yrds, sometimes I switch optics setups and zero at fifty. It really depends at any given time for me.

I set the target up at 50 yards and zero it for 70 yards when shooting gophers. With my gopher load of Winchester Dynapoints that is 1.1" high at 50 yards.
