Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations on which .22 target pistol to get? Looking for something accurate and affordable.

Thanks T

Browning Buckmark is the best, very easy to take a part for cleaning. Ruger is good too, but the design is so old that the cleaning is pain in the neck.

Getting back into the .22 target aspect of things and with that in mind, I recently acquired a couple. An older Belguim Browning Medalist.

And an older Colt Woodsman 3rd Series 4 1/2" Match Target.

And on the way, a Hi Standard Supermatic Citation and a S&W 5 1/2" Heavy model 41. Should keep me busy at the indoor range this winter.

The Ruger is not that much of a pain to take down as many seem to think. Just a bit more to do than other models but once you have done it a couple of times, it is as easy as pie..

Depends what's your definition of target shooting, and how serious you want play that game.

If you mean "bullseye" and you are planing on taking very seriously... Might just as well bite the bullet right away and get a Walther GSP/Pardini/FWB right away... it will be cheaper than upgrading guns and will allow you to really focus on your shooting.

If it's for casual plinking, the Ruger MK1/2/3 are pretty hard to beat.

You may get some more help if you define what you consider "affordable"....
I've owned 3x MKiii's and they are accurate, will eat just about any .22lr ammo and even though I'm from Toronto I managed taking them apart/cleaning them:).
I also owned a S&W41 7.5" compensated muzzle. It was very accurate but ammo picky. It's pricey but a VG used 5.5"version can be found for about $500.
All depends on your cash flow and taste.
