Hi,
I recently purchased a Remington model Seven, factory chambered in .221 Rem. Fireball with a, 18" pipe. It seems like it will be an awesome walking varmiter or a good calling rifle. I was fortunate in that it came with a large supply of factory ammo, brass and dies. Was just wondering if anyone is shooting them and if they'd be willing to share their pet load. I've heard unbelievable things about their accuracy and that the caliber is a favorite among the staff at Nosler.
I can't wait to get her out shooting to see what it can do. I've gotta burn through some of the factory ammo to get some more fire formed brass to start loading.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

I have had good success with 50 grain v-max and imr 4227 out of a Remington 700 classic. 5 shots in 1/2 inch or slightly less on regular basis. I like it for gophers and crows out to 250 yards if the wind isn't too bad. Some people report excellent results with 40 grain bullets but I have had such good luck with the 50's I have never bothered.
ymmv, 44Bore.

The combination of a 50gr Hornady V-MAX and IMR 4227 works well for me to. ;)I only wish I could use my 'short' rifle on gophers and crows.

For brass, perhaps try Henry at Budget Shooters Supply. He's a site sponsor listed at the top of the CGN website page and in the past he's supplied me with some of the harder to obtain brass.

I wanted a Fireball for a long time and finally managed to build one last year. Mine is a full custom heavy barreled varminter. It is a really fun caliber to shoot but it is limited with range.

I developed loads for both the 40gr Ballistic Tip and the 35gr varmint grenade. Both shoot pretty well however the VG hasn't lived up to expectations with respect to terminal performance. As soon as I burn through the 500 bullets I bought I will be back to the 40gr noslers.
