222 rem die

Hi i have a Lee full length die for 222 rem
The expander/decapper is .222 dia
If the expander is left out the brass is sized
Install the expander and the case neck is jammed down
and deformed
what am i doing wrong ??

How far down is the expander from the neck sizer? possibly try moving it up closer for more case support/alignment. Assume the dies are clean if you've had the expander out and in again

Can you hold the fired, unsized brass in your hand and put the expander into the case?

Lightly lube the inside of the neck with a brush rolled on the lube pad.

Hi i sectioned a case and is shows the expander ball in the neck
as the die try's to size the neck
it s as if the expander shaft is too long
it would work in a 22-250
There is only so much adjustment up and down

Good find glad you sorted it. 222 is probably my favorite to reload, so cheap. Im running out of the zmax 50g bullets though ill need a new selection soon. 19.2g of 4198 has worked great out of my model 600 and 700bdl.

If any resizing die has the expander adjusted too high the case neck is collapsed by the neck of the die. Meaning you are trying expand the neck when its inside the neck of the die.
