My Sako Varmint shoots best with 50 grain pills...actually most 222's do. Pet load of mine is:
-Sierra 50 grain Blitz
-20.5 grains/IMR4198
-CCI primer
-Lapua brass
This load shoots 1/2 MOA or better any day. You can substitute the Blitz for Hornady 50 SPSX as well. Also try the 40 grain Hornady V-Max. They shoot well for many people as well.
I have a few 222 rifles and one of the best loads that seems to work well in 3 of them is with 40 gr Vmax of Ballistic Tip and 21.5 gr of Reloder 7.
The other load is with H322 and 50gr Speer TNT bullets and that is 23.1gr. There are a great many powders to choose from that are capable of making excellent 222 ammo. FS.
Your new rifle may like to shoot the heavier bullets like the 69gr Match kings. FS
i use Hornady 50 gr v-max in front of 23 gr IMR 3031... absolute deadly combination at over 200 yards. I love my BSA .222 for long gopher shots and coyotes.
No i wouldn`t say the 222 is sensitive to bullet jump, pretty easy to load cartridge. Responds well to a variety of powders. Some will have a slight edge but you need a good bench with a good rifle and shooter to find the small difference. Kind of like a miniature 30-06, lots of combinations and they all work well. Just find your own favorite.
my 222 load are 50 grain seirra spitzer over 19.7 grains imr 4198 and 45 grain seirra hornet bulet over 20.6 grains of imr 4198.no where near max load or speed but shoot good out of the savage 340.
You will have to ultimately work up your own loads.I make 5 of each charge and put them marked in zip-locks, start shooting the lowest first and watching for pressure signs go up from there.Somewhere around the 20gr mark it should group with that powder.Shoot off of a solid bench/picnic table with sandbags not off of a truck hood or you''ll be none the wiser after.........reloadersnest.com has lots of free data.........good shooting....Harold
