223 556 ammo deals?

Every week someone asks this same question.
If I knew of a great fishing spot where not only did the fish bite regularly but there was also a fully stocked working bar fridge built into the river bank just for the taking, would I tell anyone?
No. I would enjoy fishing in a quiet only permeated by the regular running of the compressor in the refrigerator.
I once made a spreadsheet of all the sellers and their prices and posted it on the forum. Did I get a thank you? No, people just kept asking for the spreadsheet like it was the answers for a math test.

There was just a sale at Wholesale Sports (at least the Calgary Location) for June 16th and 17th featuring 20% off centrefire and rimfire ammo (excluding shotgun ammo). I picked up some American Eagle Varmint & Predator .223 Rem JHP today; it comes in 50 round boxes and is normally $34.99/box, with the sale it was $27.99/box of 50 which is pretty good considering its hollow point ammo rather than FMJ. I opened a box up just now and the primers are lacquered even, the box top is glued shut so checking them out beforehand isn't kosher and you get the added confidence that nobody has accidentally mixed different rounds between boxes (Always more of a worry when ammo is out on the shelves rather than behind the counter). If it were a normal 20 round box that would work out to $11.19/20! I was indecisive yesterday and missed out on some of the Blaser Brass 9mm which was a great deal but had sold out when I returned.
Another good price for .223 Rem HP ammo is at Bass Pro and a Red Deer AB Canadian Tire location who both had plastic ammo cans with loose packed bags of 247 rounds of Hornady 55 grain HP Match American Gunner for 189.99. Don't ask me why the odd number, it seems a rather curious thing. As they're HP ammo and you get the ammo can its reasonable. The American Eagle was a better deal though, as 250 rounds would have been only $139.95 before GST.
Sorry that the notice is after the sale ended, but just note to look out for something similar just before Fathers Day 2018 .... Maybe a phone calendar entry?

Is that Barnaul 5.56 decent? I've found other Barnaul calibers to be hit or miss... so to speak.
I ran this one and the 62gr through my M&P15 and it hits great at 50/100 which is all I really shoot with this rifle. 200 it will open up but that is more due to the shooter and iron sights. Still hits human shaped targets no problem. I am starting to prefer the 62gr more now.
So far out of 200 rounds I had one jam the bolt in my AR15. Had to pry the bolt with a screwdriver wrapped in a towel to get it to come back out. Not really sure what it is exactly about that particular round that's causing the bolt to jam, but I just tossed it and continue with the rest. Other than that one round, the remaining 199 were good, no other issues.
