Just wondering if anyone is using Vihtavuori poweder in there 223 and what kind of success they are having with it

I'm using N140 with 75 amax. It seems slightly better than varget, except my gun only likes these bullets at 2650fps with 23.5gr. It was hornadys accuracy load in the latest manual. Getting close to 5 5 shot groups to meet the challenge. I'm loading 2.480" with 1/8"

I've read that n133 works better with lighter bullets if you have a slower twist

I used to use N 550 with the heavier 75 gr Amax and 80 gr VLD's in a 30 inch barrel for 1000 yard fullbore competition. I got about 150 fps more than I could ever get with Varget and the accuracy was 1 MOA at 1000 yards. I also had very good success with N-140 and 540 again with heavier bullets and a fast twist barrel.

Varget is still an excellent choice but if you want every last once of performance you can't go wrong with VV powders.

I just tried N530, 22gr with 69 gr hornady BT in a 223 semi and worked great Lots of info on the web. best source is Lapuas's site, they give a lot of load data for Vihtavuori. A lot of room left in the case compared to varget didn't chrony the speed

I have a slower twist 1 in 9 and I was looking to shot 50 to 60gr bullets. I was thinking about trying N133 but haven't been able to find any localy and really don't feel like paying the shipping on 1lb of powder .

That rifle will shoot the 68 and 69 gr match bullets very well.

Iused to shoot TR with 223, as did wife and kids. N150 and N140 with Sierra 80s was the magic potion. RL15 was second choice.
