223 barrel makers ...

wapitiwacker would this action fit into the AICS stock?

Damn you Clayton ... looks interesting ... waiting on a reply for details of barrel, trigger, etc on that one from the guy ... thanks for the link.

If I go with a Remington action, what is there for AM trigger assemblies out there?

69gr sierra

Just ordered a Pac-Nor stainless super match barrel from Obtunded.

1-8" twist for my .223 build.

I plan on shooting 69Gr Matchkings exclusively!!

Your plan to shoot exclusively 69gr in your 1/8 twist new barrel will put you
exclusively behind in the winning circle, with the fellows shooting the 80gr Bergers if your into any kind of distance shooting 200y to 1000y
You can,t compete against a bullet with 445 BC with the 69gr at 300BC
The 80gr with 445BC will just walk right past your 69gr at 300BC
get yourself some 80gr and Varget,RL 15 and yu will be pleased

So you're saying that in order to shoot the 90gr projectiles you need to have your barrel permanently altered by a gunsmith? Any chance the throat might wear out over time and allow these types of loads naturally?

Cheers

You can shoot the 90's out of a mag fed Savage and I have done this. The bullet will seat very deep which eats up case capacity. Will still be accurate but not as fast.

I throat my FTR for as much case capacity as possible because I am only single feeding so why not. Case capacity never hurt.

So set up the rifle the way you intend to use it.

How advisable would it be to just crack open the barrel nut and elongate the headspace a few thous in order to get the proper ogive to bold distance?

Would this have a detrimental effect to the longevity of the brass shoulers?

Your head space is set so the case does not expand to the point of failure. It could have more than a detrimental effect on accuracy. A few thou is not gonna change much with regard to how far out you can seat the bullet any way.

Have you tried the 90s in your barrel to see where they are at.

Doesn't work that way.

The headspace (as determined by the barrel/chamber location) controls the case length.

Throating, controls the bullet length within the case ie seating depth.

2 separate things.

DO NOT MOVE THE BARREL TO TRY AND GIVE YOURSELF MORE BULLET ROOM.

Odds are the case will not even ignite.

Granted the 69Gr Matchking is Lacking in BC.

Winning Circle aside,
the rifle I'm building is desaigned as a coyote calling rifle.
For my uses, the 69gr is a perfect compromise of velocity and BC to get me to 5-600Yards in my 223.
