.223 HELP! too fast *Video Added*

Well, working up loads with just nine shots is, um, challenging. And I'd agree that 3,600 fps for a .223 is too high.

Bottom line to me is that if the bullets are going where you want them to go and if there are no obvious signs of overpressure (sticking bolts, extruded primers, expanded primer pockets, etc) then have a blast.

And load up a bunch more when you get back and do some proper tests.
 
Well, my initial reaction would be to first check my figures and then buddy up to somebody with a chronograph, because 3,700 fps is about 15-20% higher than normal max.

And yes, seating bullets right up against the rifling is supposed to boost pressures, but it you haven't noted any OP signs, then I wouldn't worry about it. I rarely use max loads, but that's a personal choice.

Again, if it puts the bullets on target, I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy
 
If it isn't chronied, I would bet that it isn't going that fast. Run it through a chrony. Sometimes environmental conditions make all the difference on bullet drop.

I just loaded some varmint grenades to 27.5 grains of varget. Yup its full but the results were pretty good. A bit more speed would have been nice though
