Ganderite:
Hello. Was wondering if I could ask a question as to reloading.

Im reloading 223 rem 1-9 twist using 24.5 grs varget under a 53gr vmax winchester small rifle primers winchester brass. This load gave me the best accuracy. However stupid me in my wanting to try other bullets in this rifle loaded some 55gr sierra game kings. Everything the same except bullets. I had thought they were 53gr as well and loaded 10 to see if they would match the vmax accuracy. When checking the web i noticed they dont have a 53gr so i went and weighed some of mine and theyre in fact 55gr.

Now my manuals state starting loads for 55gr bullets start at 25 and 25.5grs. Is it safe to shoot these over 24.5grs or should i pull them and add more powder?

Rifle is heavy barreled 16.5" rem 783

Joe:

They are perfectly safe to shoot. The load is a bit light, but Varget is tolerant of that. If it was me, I would also load 10 of 0.5 and 1.0 gn more, and see if there is any difference. It may be that your rifle really performs best with a light load.

I had a 22 Hornet that I could not get to shoot, until one day I made a mistake with the balance beam scales, and loaded some ammo that was 5 grains light.
