this may be an obvious question here but am developing a load with varget and 69 grain seirra in once fired winchested brass in a 1 - 9 twisted.
how har away should i site in reloaded rounds for weight, 25 yrds?50?100? or farhter out. would like to shoot these things at 3,4,500 meters.?
thank you in advance

Sean: Do an OCW test at 100 meters for powder amount using about 6 loads of 4 rounds each, then retest at 100 meters for OAL for bullet distance from the lands. After that sight in at 300 meters and retest the developed loads. Should be able to develop a match load in short order. If you want help give me a call this Friday or the weekend. Steve

The powder you are using is quite good in a lot of guns, but there are some others that might work better Rl15 will give you more fps and works best in my gun 1/9twist
Also works very well is VT 540 with 69gr & 75gr bullets. the 75gr work better for me at 600 and farther than the 69s the 75s have a better BC. most fellows at range have tried 75gr A maxs but they have mostly all changed to Sierra's & Bergers. most fellows are shooting 1" to 2" groups and a little depending on conditions at 300 yards

Varget works great with the 69 gr bullets. Sight in a 25 yards. That will be pretty flat out to 300 yards. Beyond that use trial and error.

Don't worry about sighting in until you have found the most accurate load for your rifle. You'll have to do some research about .223 ballistics too.

For accurate loads, I don't stop at 100m with my testing...if I go with a load, it needs to perform out to 500m (SR guns at least). If you can determine that without sighting in and getting your 'come ups', then please pass that along to all of us who do.
