Hey guys. Would appreciate any of your guys insite on the following:

Just recently had a 223. Rem Spun up with the match chamber(Throated for the heavier 22cal Bullets) I am looking to use IMR 8208 xbr as it’s a little easier to find right now then Varget or H4895. I am planning on doing load development for 77gr OTM, 80gr ELD-M & Berger 85.5 Hybrids.

Curious if anyone else has worked up a load for the heavier 22cal bullets using IMR 8208XBR. I have scanned some online forums and nothing to concrete on where the node may be, I’d be satisfied with anything over 2800fps or just under as well.

Rifle spec will be
Impact Action- Krieger MTU Barrel finished at 26” long.

Maybe some FTR guys could chime in? Although I will be mag feeding these rounds but any help is appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Not the info you’re looking for, but hopefully helps a little.
I load 88gr eld-m with reloader 15. I modified a metal (plastic insert) mag to hold them.
The problem I’m running into is I can’t get enough powder in the case. The 8208 is quite a bit faster. I think you might run into pressure issues before you get to a decent velocity.
I’m at a full, compressed case with only the boat tail past the neck. .020” from the lands. Average 2850 fps with no pressure signs.
I’d be looking at the .223 ai for my next barrel. Krieger 1-7” @26” currently

I'm using N150 with the 85.5gr Berger.....using the Hornady bullet comparator my BTO is 2.015". I'm also magazine feeding this rifle with MDT's polymer 10 rd.mag. I had to take it apart and file the interior of the front wall with a rat tail file. According to the Labradar, I'm getting right around 2850fps with a 29" Krieger heavy varmint contour. Last year I was using N140 with very good success also.....worked up an equally good with the N150 ....this allows me to use just the one powder between my .308 F-Class and the .223.

I defiantly came across N140 late in my studies for which powder to go with, as I could also be running n140 with my 6BR as it’s last 1000 rounds Like you are doing. I do have a decent stock of Varget but I also reload for 6.5 Grendel & have found IMR 8208 to be great & was hoping to have similar results with the 223.

The Improved defiantly crossed my mind but dies were no where to be found when I pulled the trigger on the build. Will defiantly consider it afterwards this barrel. I’m just excited to send more rounds down range at a little better cost then currently haha
