I've been in reloading for a couple years now. Today I encounter an issue when priming a certain type of brass. Primer look like if it's larger than the pocket primer. It's very hard to prime the brass and I had some brass/primer chips. Tried couple time but same result. I feel those brass.

I use CCI #400 Small rifle primer. Cases spend several hour in tumbler (corn media) and pocket clean.

Problem happened only with the FC 223 Rem cases with "circles" on the head (show on the picture). Used other FC 223 Rem cases and primer fit good.

Thanks for your help !

You have crimped primer pockets and a simple hand reamer or swager will remove the crimp. How much you spend to remove the crimps will depend on how many cases you have to do and how often you need to do it. Meaning if you only have a few cases to do then a cheap reamer will work fine, but if you have hundreds to do then a swager is the way to go.

Below Hornady and RCBS reamers to remove the crimp.

The $7.00 at Home Hardware solution. A counter sink in an electric drill. Can process a buck of brass quickly.

You want the top one

The bottom one is a tapered reamer for chamfering case mouths.

OMG thanks OP for posting and thank you everyone for the answers! I've been destroying and scraping primers for over a month now! Gotta go bring out my countersink bit and de-crimp all my 223s!
