223 remington 783 heavy barrel 16.5

Here’s my Rem 783 in .308, beautiful rifles. Very accurate rifle for the cost too

Any reason people want the 16.5" barrel when these are available in a longer heavy barrel these days? 26" pipes on the varmint model... I figured the 16.5" would make for a decent compact hunting rifle but it seems a lot of people want to throw these on chassis's?

Why would anyone want the longer heavier barrel

Accuracy between 26” to 16” isn’t going to be an issue. A lot of testing out there shows little to no increase in accuracy between 13” to 26” barrels. Shorter barrel will get your less velocity but not much. This is for distances of 1000yds or less. So carrying 10” extra of barrel is pointless

Love the lil rem 223. First version had a bushnell ultra and a brake. The last version has a tna can and a nightforce

No clue why the pix are upside down
