Well, my Stevens .223 doesn't like 69grn SMK's over H-Varget. Talk about consistent crap results.:(

Anyone care to share a pet load for the 69grn.

My savage 12bvss loves the 69 gr sierras. The bullet is pushed with either 25 gr Varget or 22.3 gr IMR 3031. i can not get pics to work on here but I can assure you that they shoot true. The first 100 yard target that I tested on showed a group that was .187 inches. Then I tried 62 gr bullets and they were terrible until I crimped them. now the groups are acceptable. ( minute of gopher I call it). the 55 gr FMJs are also acceptable after a long test and eventual crimping. The gun does not like 75 gr bullets or heavier but my son's savage 112 loves them. guess each gun likes different weights...trial and error will get you there.

What twist is your Stevens?

Anything less than a 1 in 9 or 1 in 10 and you might get the results shown above.

I shoot 25.0 Gr H-335 under a 69Gr sierra. CCI 400 primers in federal brass.
This load shoots 1/2" MOA in my 1 in 9 twist LTR and 1.2" MOA in my 1 in 10 twist Swiss.

According to the Savage web site the twist is 1:9 thats why I went with the 69's. I am using 26grn "compressed" load according to the Lee manual. I have them seated out pretty long, just able to feed the mag and close the bolt.

What primers are you using?

When I use regular primers, sometimes my 5 shot groups appear to be a tight 3 shot group and a tight 2 shot group. I switched to match primers and now its one tight group.

69 gr SMK's flew like a wounded duck out of my 1:9 barrel. I am more of a varminter than a paperpuncher, so.....

19.8 gr IMR 4198 behind a 55 gr VMAX, Nosler, or James Calhoon.

26 Gr W760 behind a Speer 52 gr hollowpoint

..to name a few.

The middle target is starting to look sweet! Keep in mind that Stevens 200 has the $hitty tupperware stock. Strengthening the forearm and bedding the action is almost a prerequisite.

It shoots other bullets better?
Nothing wrong with the rifle or scope? Loose screws, etc.
Ever tried the loads in a different rifle?

Im using winchester primers. Do they affect accuracy that much? It is frustrating, I will get 2 shots to touch then a flyer then on more will group with the first 2 then another flyer.

Anywhere from 23.5 to 25gr of Benchmark worked for me. Win 748 came in a close second. Don't remember the charge off hand but it was from the book. They were out of my savage 10FP with a 1 in 9 barrel and 69gr SMKs
