any suggestions on a scope for a .223. Im looking for a variable up to 24 power, would like increment settings for .223 drop. Mid range scope is all i can afford right now. Its going on a savage heavy bbl. Thanx for your input.

Sightron

I run a Sightron SII 6x24x42D with a 20MOA tac rail on my Win Model 70 Heavy varm. 223. Paralax is 12yrds to inf. For the price $400-500 you can't beat it.:)

Try the Bushnell 6 x 24 x 40 with side focus. It is a short scope well suited to a 223 rifle. I use mine on an 'F' class 223 rifle and it works well. Paid $599.00 for it at WSS. Steve

If your looking to do some longrange work what ever you buy make sure you get the most minutes or MOA you can for your budget. A 223 doesn't have a lot of juice at longrange so you need all the minutes you can (it will shoot as far as you want though). The higher end scope such as Leupold, 6500 and some 3200 elites have enough. The Leupold will cost more but last forever. My self I am not a fan. Also make sure you have a 1/4 MOA adjustments. Form what I have found most scopes with the adjustment range have more minutes (there are some exceptions). Other that that it is all up to what you want to spend or what you can get in some cases.

Thats what I'm using on my .308... (Bushnell 6-24x40 SF) and I love it. My only complaint is its a little short on elevation adjustment range. This is really only a concern if you plan on shooting your .223 out to 1000+ and still want to zero at 100. You should still be able to get very close to being able to do that with a canted base and/or burris rings with inserts.
