1st welcome to the forum 
Best bullet for what purpose??
General consencis is the heavier 68-70gn bullets are best for long range, while 50-55gn may be best for cloer range varmint.
For targets it's what ever shoots best in your rifle, my guess is 52-3gn Match?
I'll wait around for more answers as I too just got a .223 w/1-8" twist, & now x-mas is over it's to DAMM cold to go to the range!
