.223 to .22 250 or .22-6.5×47 Lapua. To Ream or not to Ream.

I find myself with many 223 rifles now, and would like to change one up a bit. Savage 10 FCP-K in 223 with a 9 twist, 24" barrel. Since there are almost no 22 250's on the market with fast twist rates, I would like to make my own. This would be to lob heavier bullets faster than a 223 can, and likely won't be loading any Barrel burners low weight bullets. People seem to be having good results doing this. Anyone do anything similar?

Bullet weight is not as big a factor in burning barrels as case capacity and rapid shooting is. Build a 6mm BR.

I would like to retain my current barrel for now, I can always have a new barrel made in the future for whatever caliber I choose then. I would eventually like something in the 6 or 6.5 mm range eventually though.

What you are suggesting is to ream from 223 to 22 250 or 22x47 which are .473 boltface unlike the 223, so if you plan on using a 223 to do it you will need a .473 boltface.
