Hi folks...just wondering if anyone has made the attempt to make tokarev brass from 223 casings?I have a few hundred set to go and am waiting for dies to show up...

Cheers...R...

yes its been done before. even tried to make 30 luger out of them. too much work in my opinion, case mouth has to be thinned for bullets to seat properly. rims diameter vary as well on 223 so its important to have same brand of case .
i'm lucky to attend a range where 7.62 tok ammo of all sorts being fired so S&B, PPU and Fiocchi cases can be found in scrap buckets. after a while i dropped the conversion efforts and just reload in proper brass.
Starline cases are pretty affordable so no point in wasting that time

When I started reloading for 7.62x25 I couldn’t find brass. I choose to reform from 223. Winchester brass is the thinnest and didn’t need necks thinned. Any other brass I used needed necks thinned. I found some brass that had slightly different rims which during trimming they where sorted out. My trimmer wouldn’t hold them.
The cases will slightly bulge at the base but was never a problem. Some of my brass is on its 14 th firing. Over one winter I made up close to 700 cases. Probably a lot of time but I now have a few years of cases. The easy route is to just buy them if you can find them.
