hi
i have an existing mag fed bolt gun in .223 rem and am thinking of getting it re-barrelled to 1-8 or 1-7 twist to shoot 80-90 gn projectiles. question? is there another .223 base caliber that's a better choice for med to long range 300-700 yds? i was thinking maybe.300 blackout?
any opinions/ advice welcome.

just paper targets,

if so then a 1 in 7 would work for both 80 and 90 grainers, 90 grainers are fussy to tune but work very well when tuned, I shot a 11 of 15 V_bulls at 700 meters first time out at 700. If shooting at 1000 you may wish to re-think for competition purposes

have fun

when i do my next .22 cal . for the sake i have all the components, minus dies ill most likely do a .223ai, not a big change over a .223 but will allow you squeeze a bit more velocity out of it.. it seems that alot of people underestimate the .223 for long range paper.

jerry i know has shot 1500+ with his
clayne_b on here is doing a .223 mile
i had my previous out to 900+

and i know theres lots of other guys that have gone past 1000y with great results.

have you considered a 338 thumper or also called a 223 straight long .I am currently doing one on a 1907 win in 338 short .no real advantage only to say I have one Cheers
