Hoping someone can give me some input
First - Some info and the problem
I have a Tikka Master Sport 595 in 223 cal. Im using a 1-7 twist barrel which likes 82 & 90 grain Bergers - however they wont fit in the mag and are very difficult to load into the chamber one at a time because of the sharp slope from where they lay on top of the mag.

I know the Extended Mag has a spacer in it. If removed it might give me enough room but Im not totally certain - I will need to measure this.

Option #2
RoseDale Precision offers an insert for a Tikka T3 that allows the use AICS magazines, which Im told can handle the extended length. When I emailed them they said it could be made to fit the 595 with minor gunsmithing work. Does anyone know enough about the older 595 and the new T3s to comment on doing this type of conversion?

Here is the link to the product on their website

Option #3
I have seen an after market piece you can insert in place of the mag to turn the rifle into a single shot, making it easier to load, however I dont know if they are available for the Tikka 595
Suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

You can make an insert with a soft metal like Aluminum. I did that for my magless Sporter. It wasn't pretty but it worked. It was really simple, took me about 15-20 min with a pair of snips, a hammer, a file, and a drill. See if you can round up a spare mag and grind away some of the spacer. A 308 mag should have all the room you need but I have no idea what if anything you'd have to do to the feed lips to get it feed properly.

My rifle did a little trip out west for a about a year and came back to me with a mag (a ten round one no less!!!). I have no idea where he found it but if you need me to ask him send me a PM.

Contact Mark Chesebro @ Chesebro Guns. He took over most of Mac Tiltons (MT Guns) work and assets.

If anybody should have a handle on sorting out Tikka 595 Mastersporters Mark would be among the top of the list.

I am using AICS magazines. Not sure about the bergers, but I'm loading 75gr Amax to 2.480" and they fit with some clearance. The AICS are molded plastic, the wall stock is very thick. You could machine a little from the front of the mag if you need more. The follower is prob the cheaper way to go, but if you want to shoot these loads out of a mag, it'll work.
