Haven't found a post like this so....

Just want to see what people are shooting as far as .223 rounds?

Name the ammo and how it performs

American Eagle (Federal) bulk ammo can of 1000 rounds.

Performance is actually pretty good for bulk ammo, every bit as good as the Hornady Steel Match factory ammo.

whatevers cheap for my AR15, havn't been disapointed yet (winchester, federal, hornady, norinco... even mfs) reloads for my bolt gun.
you are being pretty vague with your request, what are you trying to do? if it just needs to go bang... whatever's cheap should do.

I seldom shoot factory in .223, but the last stuff I shot was Norinco. It shot better than many other brands of ball ammo I have tried and the brass is great for reloading. I have gotten five + reloads out of it without any issues. The Norinco ammo is quite hot too (possibly 5.56 pressures).

The Norinco .223 shoots more accurately in my AR then the American Eagle tactical.

I found the complete opposite and of the 100 rds of Norinco I shot I had 3 that failed to fire, took a second strike to actually fire it, I'm over 1k rounds of the AE Tactical and not a single issue.

Are you talking about accuracy or ftf's? If your using a bolt gun that would explain the ftf's.

yeah, I thought I might need to clarify after I posted.

Shooting from an AR, accuracy was better with the AE Tactical than the Norinco as well as more reliable.
I loaded equal LAR mags, side by side targets from a rest at 100 yards, I got tighter groups with the AE than with the Norinco. We're not talking drastic, but noticable. I was getting 3-4" 10 round groups with the AE and with the Norc it was 5-6"

It was weird for the FTF, waited my 30 seconds, nothing, ejected the round, didn't look like a light strike, stuck it back in the chamber and pulled the trigger again and it went bang.

I also noticed with the Norinco, out of LAR mags, full 10 rounds, bolt open, my AR had some trouble stipping the first round out of the mag. Maybe they are actually 5.56 and just that much larger of a round in the LAR mag to make it tight enough to need the forward assist in order to load.

Picture from the range Friday when I was trying / experiencing this

How would you guys compare Sellier & Bellot .223 to Norinco, AE etc in terms of accuracy, functionality, reloadability?

Accuracy, about the same as the AE out of a bolt gun.

I found that the Norinco is no where near as accurate out of a bolt gun as the AE is, but that's just me. In an AR the Norinco is supposed to be great.

New user of 223 ammo here. Any difference between the American Eagle 'red box' and 'black box' tactical ammo? Both are loaded with 55gr boattail FMJ's. AE223 vs AE223J.

Heres one of my targets from the other weekend. Right side is Norinco, left side is AE tactical. 10 rounds at each target at 50 meters (thats why they are all high)
I haven't tried any norinco in my LAR mags yet.
