I have a buddy looking to load some bullets for his .22-250 that will cause the least amount to damage as possible without going to a FMJ. We were thinking of 50grn X-Bullets. Does anyones have any input on them? He wants them for Coyote/Fox hunting.

Thanks
Tim

You could try Hornady Match grade hollow points. They have a thicker jacket, and don't usually expand much, unless you really push them.
When I was using a .223 for ground hog hunting, these would just leave a clean in/out hole, even at close to max velocity from a .223.

I have not tried the Barnes x bullets in my 22 cals, but have tried the varminators, you won't want to use them if you don't want damage.
I do use Barnes x bullets in my 25 cals and 30 cals and love them so I can't see why they would not work great. I bought a rifle that a load was already built for that is awesome and it uses the Sierra blitzking bullets and I have used it on coyotes and it works great.
Hope this helps somewhat.

I had good luck using the 50gr VLC on coyotes, as long as the velocity was kept down a bit. With the 22-250 that seems to be the issue often though! I prefer to knock em down in their tracks with a bullet like the VLC,SX, or VMAX, and risk the odd one with toomuch damage rather than having them run and bleed out as they are too hard to find if you cant see them go down.
