10+ years ago I inherited about 400+ rounds of .225 Win. It was held for me until I turned 18 and I've had it ever since. I have a few problems. First, I was never able to ask if the ammo is handloads or factory. I think they are handloads but I am not sure how or even if I could tell the difference. The other problem is that I've never come accross a rifle chambered for .225 win. This wikipedia article pretty much sums it up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.225_Winchester

I wanted to post them in the EE but I'm not comfortable selling ammo that I have not tested and confirmed as safe.

Does anyone here have experience with .225 win and have a good knowledge of ammunition? If so PM me because I would like to determine if they are safe and can be sold.

Thanks,
Colin

I have considerable experience with the 225 Winchester. It is a semi-rimmed round that is close, ballistically, to the 22-250. It never got off the ground for several reasons. Winchester chambered it in their excellent Model 70 rifle, and also in the M71 & 710, built in Canada at the Coburg plant. It may be difficult for a novice to see the things that would clearly identify the ammo you have as reloaded (or factory) Can you take a picture of it that is clear and large enough to see a sample of this ammo? If so, please post, and you will at least get a couple of educated opinions. If it is reloaded, it is not any good to anyone beyond components, since most savvy shooters are deign to shoot any unknown load that someone else has assembled in their rifle. Additionally, the 225 is not popular by any stretch of the imagination, so finding someone interested in it even for the components may be difficult. Regards, Eagleye.

The .225 Win. lives on due to the fact that it is a rimmed or semi rimmed case and is quite well suited to use in Single shot rifles, it is a std. chambering in CPA rifles and some of the US Highwall reproduction manufacturers such as Ballard and Meacham.
