Hello fella's, I have a couple of 35's (Ruger Hawkeye and 7600 Carbine) and some TSX's to load up for moose season here. I would like to know what powder's and grain amounts you guys are using for your 35 Whelen's shooting the 225gr TSX's. I do have the new Barnes manual and have briefly tried 4895 and 4064 with ok results. I would be interested in hearing if any of you have tried powders like RL15, 4350 or ?? and what kind of results you've had. I know RL15 works great with my 250's. Suggestions?? Thanks...........

RL 15 or Vihtavuori N540 work equally well in my Whelen with the 225's. 60 grains is close to a working Max in most rifles. I would approach it from 3 grains below, watching for any excess pressure indications on the way up. I prefer to use a Vernier micrometer and measure for any expansion of the head of the case. On the first firing of a new case, .0005" to .0008" is about normal. Subsequent firings that expand the case head at all are too hot to use safely. Eagleye.
