Looking for some recommendations on which 22 LR bolt action I should buy looking for some thing that I could target/precision shoot with and then also maybe hunt in the long run I was looking at the

Rugar precision
Savage precision
Tikka T1x
Cz 457
Cz455

Any feedback is much appreciate it

Out of those you have listed the CZ 457 is the easy button IMO. They are quite popular for precision shooting and have lots of aftermarket support. A lot of choices for chassis/triggers/barrrels if you want/need to upgrade later.

The Tikka T1X would be second of those you have listed and most of the time it is a tossup between the T1X and the 457 as to which is the most accurate. IMO the T1X has a very slight edge in accuracy on any given day and might be less picky with ammo. However, there is not as much aftermarket choices for precision shooting. Be prepared to modify some things on your own. And some are finicky with feeding/ejecting. This can be resolved if you like to tinker with things.

The Ruger and Savage precision are - not really precision from what I have seen.

Cz457. All manner of stock models. After market stocks and you can buy an aftermarket trigger. Tikka is a great gun but not many accessories. Don’t know if an aftermarket trigger is out there

CZ 457 or Tikka T1X would be both on the top within the range of your list.

If you want to step up a little bit, then Bergara B14 or Sako Finnfire II

Up a little bit more, Sako Quad or steyr zephyr II

Up more, Vudoo or RimX or Anschutz

To begin with I suggest CZ457 and Tikka T1X, lots of aftermarket parts/stocks/trigger to play with, and relatively inexpensive.

I think if you're wanting to switch barrels, or have some alternative stock options..the CZ457 is probably your best bet.

If you want a rifle that just gets it done as-is, I'd pick the T1x but keep in mind, the T1x shares the same footprint as the T3x centerfires, so anything available for them should work? The T1x has been my favorite 22 to use since I got it.

Trigger-I put a YoDave in my T1x which made a very good trigger even better. I have a YoDave for my 457 as well, I've yet to install it.

The T1x had a better trigger out of the box, and the way the trigger spring is installed is also exactly how you do it on the T3x. Could not be easier.

Of those I'd get the T1X.
If you stretch the budget a little get a B14R.

CZ accuracy and function has not been consistent in my experience. If you are going to throw a $500 barrel on to make it accurate you should just get a better rifle to start with.

So I think I’m leaning towards the tikka t1x now my next question is do I go with the 16” or 20” barrel what would be the pros/cons of each?

I can only recommend the 20", as it's what I have...and it shoots remarkably well. Still, the rifle doesn't feel overly heavy in hand. I really think they got it right. Don't even mind the synthetic stock, and it's a small price to pay when the gun is so nice to shoot.

I'm on the hunt for something similar and the consensus seems to be the CZ457. There is a wide range of models to fit each need, some are better for hunting vs precision shooting.

I'm liking the looks of the Canadian model.

T1x IMO, I hate the CZ banana mags. T1x has a nicer trigger, crisp and lighter. T1x has 3 grub screw holding barrel tight, 457 has two. Ive swapped barrels on both T1x and 457 without any issues. T1x can drop into any t3x chassis giving you more stock/ chassis options. The action is smoother in the t1x as well. I have my t1x tuned the same as my .223 and 308 t3x so the t1x is a great training platform. My 2 cents.

^agreed. I'd suggest the OP go and handle both the 457 and T1x. I really like both rifles, but the Tikka just feels more refined. The CZ feels like it needs breaking in, but has that "CZ" feel. lol I actually like shooting the 457 more than the 452, but I have FAR FAR more time behind a 452.
