I just purchased a second mag for my browning standard. Both mags say .22LR Browning on them. The one I bought is slightly different from the original. Overall, one wouldn't think that they were big issues. The bottom of the mag on the original has a pad that sits on the outside of the mag well, there's a round notch at the very front of the mag under the follower thats deeper on the original, and the mag release hole is smaller on the original. Pics to follow tomorrow. Otherwise, overall shape (the new one is smaller due to the lack of the large pad), size, and appearance are the same.
The problem is, when I put in the new mag, I can't get it to go past the mag release unless I depress and hold it while inserting the mag. I just bought it a couple of minutes ago and won't be able to get it to the range for a while, but it doesn't seem to inhibit any actions of the pistol. Of course I didn't try and put ammo into the mag while working it as I believe that to be a very stupid idea. I'm going to wait till I get to the range before I try it with ammo.
Does anyone have any idea whats causing the problem with the new mag and how I can solve it? Is this a sign that there could also be other issues once I get ammo to the pistol like double feeding? Or am I just making a mountain out of a ant hill?
Oh and P.S. Sorry to the mods for putting this in the pistol section. Seemed like the right place as this wasn't strickly a rimfire issue.
