Hi gunnutz,

I inherited an Iver Johnston Target 55 revolver a while back and the cylinder has some dry fire indentations that interfere with proper chambering and excitation of cartridges.

Does anyone know of a Canadian source for a chamber iron or swage that would help me out with the vintage plinker? If someone has one and would be kind enough to rent it to me that would be excellent as well.

Perhaps a tapered punch would work. The chamber iron tool appears to be discontinued, according to Brownells.

Make an iron.

A #2 drill bit. Grind or file a flat along one side of the shank, whipsaw across the flats corners with some wet or dry sandpaper or some emory cloth strip to round the edges over.

Grip the drill bit in a vise grips style plier or in a bench vise, insert, rotate to iron the ding over. You can use a flat nose punch to push the remaining damage out, pushing the drill shank sideways.

Won't last forever, but long enough to get done what you will need.
