I know there's already posts out there asking what the differences between the two are. I'm more curious to know what your guys` preference is. I'm about to make a bulk order and my rifles generally seem happier with the copper plated stuff, but I can appreciate the consistency of the lead bullets. What do you prefer and why?

Copper, the lead versions usually have a wax type coating on them, I don't care for that. Have not really tested to see if the barrel gets fouled quicker or not.

Lead keeps gumming up my revolvers but work great in my semi's.

I use lead in semi's and plated in my revolvers.

I just burned through my first 500 rounds of (lead) M22s. LOTS of ftf and stovepipes in my 10/22. I will stay with copper washed.

Ran fine in my 10/22, 22/45.

M22's are advertised as blackened copper coated. I haven't tried them, lead gums up my magazines more than copper but doesn't seem to foul the barrel any more than copper

They are copper washed but thick wax coating that may be the cause of the gummy.

I use lead (subsonic ammo) for target work and "precision" long range squirrel hunting. Everything else gets usually taken care of by Federal Champion 525 bulk or Minimags HPs (both copper washed) just because they are cheaper than my target ammo. I don't buy anything else if I can help it.
That makes me wonder how much CCI Minimags are going to cost next year?!?!

You will not see the copper washed bullets in any Target ammo.

It is very popular with run of the mill HV ammo, however.

I would not shoot the copperwashed ammo in any high grade match 22, but use it in the others quite a bit.

Regards, Dave.
