22lr Flat nosed?

Can a 22lr barrel prefer the flat nosed over the round.

If a barrel performs better with a flat-nose bullet rather than a round nose one, it is the luck of the draw, a better lot of flat nose ammo than round nose. There's no guarantee that the next lot of flat nose will perform similarly.

When it comes to accuracy performance, the shape of the bullet nose -- round or flat -- is less important than other ammo characteristics. In fact the bullet nose itself never makes any contact with the bore and so can only makee a difference, if there could be one, in flight. More significantly with regard to performance, the bullet nose has nothing to do with the ammo's extreme spread or its ignition, both of which are crucial for accuracy. Also very important are bullet seating and crimping, bullet heel uniformity, priming and propellant consitency. These are also unrelated to bullet nose shape

In general, there seems to be no statistical evidence to support the idea that either the flat nose Eley Tenex or other top tier match round nose is superior in accuracy. Currently, the majority of serious BR shooters are using round nose Lapua because better shooting Lapua is more readily available than Eley EPS ammo.

I've noticed in my shooting of the vudoo it just seems to react to flatnosed better, the gentlemen on here that sold it to me noticed this phenomenon as well.all though I only have maybe 6 different varieties and lot numbers of flat nosed compared 20 something of the round I find the flats are seeming to like this vudoo better.probaby the first 22 I've shot that showed this.im going today and tomorrow to try the half inch challenge with it.i sold my savage that did the challenge with std+.I find the challenge forces me into long intervals of concentration.

Could it be the feeding of the flatnose from the vudoo mag and how it is engraved in the chamber.iive had very consistent results with 2 different sk flatnose and 2 different lots of Eley team .I feel(maybe from felt confidence)that my best 22lr cartridge for this vudoo will be found in the flatnose. But flatnose is about a 20th of my stock lol.cant really afford to buy a huge inventory of flatnose. I have my 5 year supply of 22lr already.

Five year supply . . . I would be afraid it might go bad.

Flat nose or round nose might have the same application as shifts in velocity from lot to lot.

My experience with both will find one gun has a preference over the other.

The Sierra program lists Ballistic Coefficient in the 0.14 range for the Eley flat nose with some round nose as low as 0.10.
Probably insignificant until longer ranges are challenged. At 200 metres, there might be as much as 5 MOA between the two.
