22LR handgun upgradeable to 9mm / .40 / 45ACP ?????

so, evidently it's easy to buy a centerfire handgun in 9/40/45/whatever and then buy a conversion to shoot the cheap 22LR. only snag is the price - handgun PLUS conversion. spend extra money to save money.

is there a handgun that starts as a 22LR and can be converted UP to 9/40/45 later on (keeping the same frame / grip / etc)?

What he said! Its about $700 for the Classic 22 and another $500 for the conversion kit (.357, 9mm or .40). Questar carries them in Canada.
