I've really wanted a m&p 22 and have my name on one when next shipment comes into my local dealer. I'm second guessing this only because of issues finding mags!! I like the fact it's very similar to all other m&p's, what are people thoughts on other 22lr out there that modelled after bigger calibre frames? Any suggestions on a second choice?

I own a Sig 1911-22 and for around $400 (GSG version) my son has no complaints. Mags are plentiful as well as some aftermarket accessories. Some folks have had luck dropping in 1911 parts. Sig p226 Classic 22 and CZ Kadet also come to mind but are almost twice the cost.
My personal choice for a semi-auto would be a Ruger MK series...kinda resembles a Nambu 14 (Japanese Luger). Proven track record and longevity.

The mag issue is less and less of an issue as time goes on. You just need to be patient, put in an order and wait. It's worked for alot of other people. It's not like they're unobtainium, just not easy to get the same day or week.
