22LR in 22Mag?

I just picked up an old single action revolver in 22 magnum, but was wondering if shooting 22lr in it is alright. I know the case sizes are different, but you can't reload 22lr. They may expand in a 22 Mag chamber making extraction potentially difficult.

Any more advice on the subject?

You would likely experience split cases possibly leading to more serious issues. Accuracy would probably be pretty awful as well.

The cases will split ,and it will be inaccurate
as the magnums are Jacketed and have a larger diameter ,
so the .22 lr will be looser in the bore .

Cut the rim off of the Magnum case, use the body of the case as a sleeve for the LR. Not the best solution, but works in a pinch.

I would never have believed YOU would have said that.

It's a cartridge adapter.

The LR uses a heeled bullet whereas the Mag does not, the difference is the case thickness. Variations in bore diameter are for the most part inconsequential.

Again, it's not a perfect solution but it is a viable one, especially in a survival situation.
