Ct had federal bricks for 22.98, the pallet sold out in about a week,
the 333 packs are sitting at 16.
the m60 black box rounds, I just grabbed a thousand round case for 48
wal mart has the 525 rounds for 22 50
CT has th ebucket of bullets for 75,
Red Deer Shooting center has a few too, not sure of the price thou

atleast, all those prices are accurate as of the past month, just went thru the reciepts in my jeans lol my stockpiling for the year is done, meant to get about 2k or3k, ended up with 6000 rounds, so I will probably be set for next summer too.

It is real easy to figure that a large store may be gouging when you see a smaller "mom& pop" location selling for a much lower price. However the high volume dealer sees the need to raise his prices sooner when he reorders at the new pricing reality. Recall that the Canadian dollar was at 1.10 US a short time ago --now it is at .90 US. After the banks get their cut this is a 25% differance in cost. Then if the ammo manufacturer has put up prices 5%, thirty percent higher is just the new reality.
If he does not keep on top of inventory adjusted replacement value a small shop will find that it is selling at its new stock replacement cost. The whiners will be his best pal for a while and then crap all over him on a site like this when he does adjuct his prices on new inventory.

You have some good points, however I didn't see ammo prices go down when the dollar went past par. Did you? It's like gas prices, I haven't seen the prices drop when the price per barrel drops.

Actually I did see price drops on ammo a few years ago. Really just holding ammo prices stationary was in fact a downwards price adjustment. Up until about 1.5 years ago the increase in value of the Canadian dollar against the U.S. dollar was very close to the increased cost of ammo pricing from the manufacturers. Ammo costs to purchase at wholesale had been going up but the Canadian dollar was appreciating which basically balanced out. Now when our dollar has taken a hit the resulting differerance is causing
"Sticker Shock' for everyone. There certainly may be some opportunism taking place but most of the smaller shops for sure are in this business because they like it and like the people they deal with in the shooting sports. The real big businesses may not have this sentiment and may only be looking at the bottom line but the little shops are there because they like the industry and are seldom doing more than pulling a salery out of it.
And its not just against the U.S currancy-I recently brought in some items from Europe and our currancy against the Euro has taken a dive as well.
