got this problem with server leading on my 22 lr colt conversion unite, after firing
about 30 to 40 rounds, the slide will not close to battery, just wonder if something wrong with the barrel/chamber area or is there any thing i can do to
reduce the leading. thk :eek:

I'm just taking a shot in the dark but .22 conversion kits and .22's in general are highly prone to malfunction when dirty, might not like the ammo your feeding it or got a few dirty loads through there. Do a good cleaning and try again maybe try a different ammo.
 
How does that work? That insert goes in the barrel? It looks like there is a bad seal between the insert and the barrel and you get blowback which is building up between the 2 pieces.
I dont understand why the barrel isn't 1 piece?
 
That appears to be the Colt conversion with the floating chamber to simulate the recoil of a .45. I have read somewhere , that if you round off the edges of the floating chamber ,it doesn't jam up as quickly. But you should check on some of the American gun forums first before doing any alterations . The best info so far is clean up the fouling and try a different brand of .22 ammo and keep trying until you find one that fouls less than any of the others. Maybe some of the people who have the newer conversions for CZ or Glocks will add what ammo is recommended for those conversion unit .
 
I feed CCI mini-mags through my Ruger 22/45, out of 500 rounds only had one miss feed. From what i've read about other kits most people seem to have good experiences feed wise through most .22's with mini-mags. Can also try the regular velocity they don't have the copper wash on them incase that is causing your issue.
 
thk. guys for the quick reply, and keep it coming, i love shooting this pistol but in one range outing i had to clean it every 40 rounds, did try several different brand 22lr. all seems to have the same leading, some are worse than the others.
 
Part of the problem could be the ammo.
The solution that i personally saw with one of the ACE conversions was to run lead bullets with no plating and the lube from the bullets actually helped make the gun run better when the lube got in between the halves of the chamber it kinda replenished itself with each shot.
Those conversions are an old design, so consider the ammo they were designed around to begin with.
The ammo that gave the best performance was some old Russian stuff.
