Hey out there. I'm going to look at a collection on firearms tomorrow, some of which will be for sale. I found out that one of the items is a Martini action .22lr target rifle. What can anyone tell me about this action? I understand that it is supposed to be a great little target rifle and quite accurate. I already have a Cooey model 600, (bolt, tubular magazine), and it is great, but you can never have enough .22's right?
I believe it is a BSA, but I'm not sure yet. Would it be worth considering?
Thanks!

Of course.
It is most likely one of the Model 12 or 15 rifles used for cadet marksmanship training in years gone by.
Or, there is the possibility that it could be one of the serious BSA competition target rifles.
Could also be a sporting rifle.
These are fine rifles, and with a good bore are very accurate.
Apart from caliber, these have little in common with your Cooey.

They are great actions and depending on the model, can be very desirable. Some of the target models came with a guaranteed accuracy of 1-1/2" at 100 yards.

Consider them a true classic.

This is one of my favourites, (not mine unfortunately)

Martini BSA

I have a couple of the I.S.U heavy barrel Martini's in .22.

They can shoot 5 rds into the same tiny hole at 100 yds.

Excelent rifles.

These are very well made rifles, alot have been made into higher pressure cf chamberings, grab 'em while you can. Minimum price on a std. model is about $400, as much as $550 if in good shape. The value of an International is slightly more although most of the ones you see have fancy, collectable, scopes, such as the Redfield 3200 in this case which can fetch $500 alone. Some Int'l. models sport Unertl target/varmint scopes that go up to $800 for the scope alone, either way, I would grab any Martini that isn't overpriced too much.IMHO
