Does anyone know where I could get a nice match grade 22LR barrel blank here in Canada?

I've contacted a few of the usual suspects and come up snake eyes so far.

Looking for an MTU contour to finish at 24 inches with either 1:12 or 1:16 twist.

Vudoo wont sell me an action with a 24 inch barrel so I've decided to get creative and barrel up a different 700 clone action.

I'm not in any particular hurry if it has to be ordered.

Contact KS Arms in Edmonton. They are now making barrels for RimFire ... to your specs. I had them put a sporter contour on a CZ 452 American that gave me 50 yd agg. in the .3’s with CenterX. Karl gave me a box of SK Long Range Match which shot as well as the CenterX but I have not made time to do serous testing for aggs at 100M.

Readers should note that .22 centerfire barrels and .22LR barrels have different bore dimensions. Centerfire barrel blanks may be in stock with many suppliers, while .22LR may not.

According to SAAMI specifications, the .223 Remington, for example, has a bore diameter of .219" (5.56mm) with a groove diameter of .224" (5.69mm).
SAAMI specs have the .22LR bore at .217" (5.51mm) with a groove diameter of .222" (5.64mm). The CIP specifications used in most European-made .22LR firearms have even smaller dimensions.

SAAMI specs for .223 Remington below, followed by SAAMI specs for .22LR.

That does raise the question of how they evolved to be so annoyingly close-but-not-the-same, and whether there are manufacturers out there cheating and just using the same raw barrels for both.

Maple57, what chamber are you going with? Or that may be another thread altogether.

Shooter1971, did you use a prefit for your RimX?

I was planning to duplicate the Vudoo chamber, and since the design specs are proprietary, I will need to do a chamber cast on a Vudoo to establish those dimensions.

It would be nice to find a drawing of the Vudoo RAVAGE reamer, but so far I have not been able to find it.

I did speak with both Insite and Go Big and neither of them can help with a rim fire barrel.

Alberta Tactical only wants to sell Pre Fits, but I want to spin it up myself.

KS Arms may be a way to go, so thanks for that JEC.

Thanks, please keep us posted. I'm doing a similar project and I've been going down the rabbit hole of 22lr chamber reamer research. I may start a thread a new thread so as not to derail this one.

A couple of friends just got Benchmark rimfire barrels from Bighorn, but they were special order.

The same barrel blanks are unlikely to be used interchangeably between centerfire and rimfire. While the standard twist rate for .22LR is 1:16, it's ususually quite a bit faster for centerfire calibers.

Try jc custom barrels made in Canada and As good as any of the other barrel makers out there have one of there barrels on a ruger precession in 6.5 Creedmoor and it’s one of the most accurate rifles I have owned

I dont think hes doing rimfire barrels yet.

KS Arms chambered their barrel with a 52D reamer. No doubt I will get them to make me a heavier contour RF barrel come spring. Plan to put it on a CZ 452 Varmint.

I did some digging:

SAAMI specs already cited - 5.51mm lands 5.64 grooves (SAAMI drawings, pages labeled 14 and 15 in PDF, 21-22/89 absolute)
CIP specs - 5.38mm lands 5.58 grooves (22LR drawing, symbols/definitions of F and Z)

Contact any of the barrel makers in the states, they may have blanks in stock that you can profile yourself, or they can do a custom order. You can import through Prophet River, $50 fee for the barrel + taxes/duties and shipping will run you $100 and change over the cost of the blank. It'll be about a 3 month wait once the import agent receives the barrel from the maker.
