OK,so I'm looking at buying myself a new Henry Lever action rimfire..for Christmas..to myself.
I own at present four 22lr rifles,2 bolt,2 semi. I have one SA revolver that shoots both LR & Magnum. I like the 22lr for the low cost fun it will bring, not to mention hunting small game with the young lad. But the 22magnum is also of interest, more power, more oomph when it strikes the target of opportunity.
The lever will be used for gophers, rabbits and maybe the odd 'yote.
What do ya figure?
Thx for your comments:)

If any yote shooting is in the works....go for the 22mag. Not sure at what range you can cleanly take a yote with a 22mag, but it would be a lot better than a 22LR.

Just for fun, did you look at the .17 HMR?

I had a 17HMR and I did look at the Henry but fell for the .22cal lever.
My intentions are not to purpousely go after 'yote's with this rifle,if that was the case then I'd take my .204 Ruger. But if and when I go after rabbits, and I come accross a 'yote I'd try for a clean shot.
Is there not a 22lr round out there that'll drop mr. coyote?

Well I have hunted with my trusty Marlin 782 22mag for a dozen years or so. She's a tack driver and will definitely drop a yote at 75yrds considering .....that is upside the head!!! I use her mostly for bunny hunting as she's got that extra punch where a regular 22 will deflect. I'd go for the mag!!! If it's yotes your after I'd opt for a centerfire 22 of sorts.....just my 5 cents worth.

My Norinco 22 mag hits dimes at 100 which is great for me.Anything longer the 223 comes out.My Henry H001 lever is just for gun range fun at silohuettes at 40,60,80 and 100 yds

Rush out and get yourself a GoldenBoy. For yotes' the .22lr is perhaps a little underpowered. I wouldn't expect any bang\flops, but a well placed shot inside 75 yards.....
