If you had a choice between choosing the Advantage Arms conversion for your favorite Glock or the Sig Sauer 22LR conversion for your Sig which one would you choose and why.....assuming you like both pistols equally? Is it fair to assume that one conversion is more reliable than the other...less problems with jams and less ammo sensitive...perhaps more accurate than the other? Is the slide not locking back on the Sig conversion enough of a reason for you to convert the Glock? I have a Glock 17 and a Sig 226 TacOps....would like to convert one of them just to get my boys shooting more 22 instead of 9mm. Any comments or suggestions on either of these two conversions and how they compare to one another is appreciated.

I have the SIG 226 22lr conversion and it is in no way ammo picky. shoots very well. I have no experience with the advantage arms or glocks for that matter. I have a "power upgraded" follower, which is an extended mag follower that when the last shot is fired, the slide comes a bit forward and hits said follower keeping it open on the last shot. This is not locked open on the last shot. problem is now the slide is pinching the mag in place. Press the mag release and the mag will not fall out. The up side to this is you never dry fire the gun. If you are only plinking this isn't that big a deal. You pull the slide to the rear and lock it back and facilitate your mag change as per normal. Under run and gun training this is a PITA...
Accuracy is easily on par with the 40S&W slide that came with the pistol.....actually a bit better. Adjustable sights are a nice touch on the 22 lr slide as well. Dont know if the AA slides have that.....my 2cents

I just bought my buddies glock 17 and the AA kit and love it... it has adjustable sights and its accurate I shoot it better then 9mil. I was going to buy the sig .22 classic and the x-change kit but after I found out that it doesn't have the last shot hold open and that made me change my mind. that would be like buying a car without a working speedo, it would work but you wouldn't really know were your at...
Anyways I'm very happy with the AA kit

Thanks for the comments. I was hoping to hear from someone that owns both conversions and has tried several different types of rimfire ammo through them on a side x side comparison. I know the individual systems have been discussed here before but I couldn't find a thread comparing the two head to head. Anyway, I just bought a AA kit for my Glock 17 and we'll see how that works. I think I'm going to buy the Sig conversion as well and set both pistols up. The logical choice would be to have a dedicated 22LR pistol but nothing I ever do in this hobby makes much sense when it comes to spending money....:D.

Sig conversion is aftermarket, Sig is factory...IMO Sig's is a better quality but I prefer Glocks over Sigs.

with that said get yourself a GSG 1911. cheap and you'll have a new gun.

Man, I really don't like that GSG. For around 400 bucks I know you can't ask for much but it's just so light and looks poorly made to me. I know a lot of you guys like them and that's great but I just was turned off the first time I handled one. That and the wifey said no more new guns...but;)....she didn't say anything about scopes, conversion kits, reloading gear, or ammo....:D.

If the SIG classic 22lr would lock back on empty mag, IMO, it would be one of the better 22lr platform. I don't understand why they don't come up with mags with a correct follower to get that slide stop up when the mag is empty...

I've had both and they are both are very good.

Both do come with adjustable sights

The finish on the Sig is better than the AA kit.
The Sig is far less picky with ammo
The Sig when on the P226 lower feels heavier (more like a centrefire) than the Glock with the AA kit.

The Sig does not lock back on the last round, The AA does.

I should have kept both.

Man, I really don't like that GSG
I bought mine with out seeing it first and have to admit I was kinda disappointed. But after shooting it I really changed my opinion! it's a lot of a fun to shoot! Because it's light it has a lot of recoil for a .22 which is always nice to have IMO. I ended up selling my other .22's later.

I must agree with RedDuc. I can only add that the AA kits became more ammo sensitive with age. I had a 17 and a 19 with the kits. The lockback is nice on the AAs but I still wound up yanking the mags out of the Glocks 50% of the time. They just refused to drop consistently. I find my Sig Classic slightly more accurate but I credit the single action trigger for that advantage. Whichever way you go, you'll enjoy it. You could always take the high road and get both
